Senator Titus Zam of Benue North-West reportedly confronted Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central in the Northern Senators Forum WhatsApp group over her ongoing public clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Zam’s intervention came amid growing tensions within the Senate and increasing media attention on Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension case.
According to reports obtained by Daily Post on September 10, 2025, Zam addressed Akpoti-Uduaghan in the group chat, urging her to “calm down” and stop seeking publicity through repeated confrontations with the Senate leadership. Zam reminded her that the Senate President had sworn her in as the head of an institution and stressed that attempts to undermine the Senate will not succeed.
He reportedly wrote, “Why do you wish to be in the news for the wrong reason? I thought by now you would be sober and engaging instead of resorting to needless altercations with the system. Calm down; you can’t subdue this institution.”
The confrontation underscores the tense political climate in the National Assembly, with Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension technically expired in early September 2025, but her reinstatement remains pending court decisions. A letter from the Acting Clerk dated September 4 clarified that her status is sub judice as the courts deliberate on the matter.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6, 2025, for alleged violations of Senate standing rules relating to her conduct in the chamber. The suspension has generated polarized reactions, with her party, the PDP, and legal advocates pressing for her return while Senate leadership insists on adherence to due process.
The recent exchange between Zam and Akpoti-Uduaghan represents an effort by some senators to mitigate escalating public disputes and encourage more measured engagement within the legislative body.
