Popular Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, known as Davido, has been officially appointed as the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund. This strategic appointment by Governor Ademola Adeleke reflects the government’s commitment to revitalizing sports across the state.
The Sports Trust Fund is a newly established initiative aimed at generating resources and fostering sustainable development within Osun’s sports sector. During a recent announcement, the state’s Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Kola Adewusi, expressed confidence that Davido’s international stature and extensive network will significantly enhance private-sector investments and philanthropic contributions to sports development in Osun.
Adewusi highlighted ongoing projects such as the renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to Olympic standards, underscoring the administration’s ambition to put Osun on the global sports map. Plans for establishing an Osun State Sports Commission are also underway, expected to centralize sports administration and policy execution.
Davido’s leadership is viewed as a pivotal step toward transforming sports in the state, with the hope that his influence will inspire youth participation and attract significant partnerships.
