Praise Onyeagwalam, popularly known as Director Pink, a celebrated Nigerian filmmaker and music video director, has revealed the harsh reality that led her to give up on pursuing an acting career. In an exclusive interview, the award-winning director shared how persistent and unwelcome sex-for-role requests from casting directors and filmmakers discouraged her from acting and pushed her to focus on directing instead.

Determined to carve a dignified space for herself in the entertainment industry, she chose to transition from aspiring actress to music video and film director, a move that has since made her a respected figure in the creative scene.
Her decision proved fruitful as she went on to direct numerous acclaimed music videos for top Nigerian artists including Chike, Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Mercy Chinwo. She is also the founder of Pinkline Films, a leading production company, and Pinkline Academy, where she mentors emerging filmmakers.
Director Pink’s story highlights the challenges many women face in the Nigerian entertainment industry, shedding light on the need to eradicate exploitation and create safer, more professional environments for creative talents. Her success stands as a testimony to resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
