The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has partnered with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to address revenue leakages at cargo terminals in Lagos.

The collaboration comes as part of efforts to enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and strengthen revenue collection processes within the nation’s busiest airport cargo facilities. Both agencies have expressed concern over the persistent loss of government revenue due to under-declaration, smuggling, and other irregularities in cargo handling operations.

FAAN’s Managing Director emphasized that plugging these leakages is critical to boosting government earnings and ensuring that Nigeria’s aviation sector contributes more meaningfully to the economy. Similarly, Customs officials said the partnership would allow for stricter checks, better coordination, and the deployment of technology-driven monitoring systems at the terminals.

Stakeholders believe the joint effort will not only enhance revenue generation but also promote accountability and reduce corruption in cargo operations. The move is expected to restore confidence in the system, benefiting both government and private sector players who rely on efficient cargo services.
