Focus on Service, Not Ego’ – ADC Counters Wike’s Attack on Peter Obi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his recent verbal attack on Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP). The ADC described Wike’s comments as reckless, condescending, and undignified of his office, urging him to prioritize governance and public service over ego-driven verbal battles.

Wike had criticized Obi’s visit to a dilapidated government primary school in Abuja, where Obi highlighted poor infrastructure and learning conditions. The ADC argued that instead of reacting irritably, Wike should have taken Obi’s concerns as a call for prompt action. They also ridiculed Wike’s attempt to compare his two-year tenure as FCT minister to Obi’s eight years as Anambra State governor, pointing out Obi’s achievements including leaving billions in reserves and advancing education and health standards.

ADC’s Publicity Secretary, Chukwudi Samuel, stressed that leadership requires service, vision, and responsibility—not arrogance or noise. The party called on Wike to focus on fixing governance issues rather than engaging in unnecessary confrontations, emphasizing that Abuja needs a builder, not a brawler.
