Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed deep confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will reclaim the presidency and continue its dominance in Nigerian politics after the 2027 general elections. Makinde made the declaration during the Oyo State PDP Congress held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Ibadan, emphasizing the party’s commitment to internal democracy and party unity as key strengths.

Addressing a gathering of party members, including ward and local government executives, ad-hoc delegates, and stakeholders from all 33 local government areas in Oyo State, Makinde praised the peaceful and rancour-free conduct of the congresses at various levels. He urged the new state executive members to work diligently towards securing victories in all upcoming elections, from the grassroots to the national stage.

Makinde reiterated that the PDP’s organizational discipline and respect for internal democratic processes would ensure electoral success beyond 2027 in both Oyo State and at the national level. Expressing optimism, he assured that members yet to receive compensations or recognition had not been forgotten by his administration.

The governor’s remarks come amid growing political activities and alignments as the country prepares for the high-stakes 2027 elections, signaling PDP’s readiness to regain political control and challenge the ruling APC’s hold on power.
