The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed profound sorrow following the death of renowned Nigerian evangelist Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed away at the age of 80 on October 6, 2025. In a statement, CAN hailed Rev. Ukpai as a “kingdom soldier” whose ministry touched countless lives across Nigeria and beyond.

CAN described the late evangelist as a unifying figure who inspired generations of believers through powerful preaching, healing crusades, and outreach programs. His evangelistic work transcended denominational boundaries, fostering spiritual growth and unity in the Christian community.

Rev. Uma Ukpai, founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association and a key leader in Nigerian Pentecostalism, was also celebrated for his contributions to education and healthcare through institutions bearing his name.

As the nation mourns the loss of one of its foremost spiritual leaders, CAN called on Christians to celebrate his enduring legacy and continue the work he passionately championed.
