The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified the roles of Senator Nenadi Usman and Hon. Bashir Saidu within the state’s political landscape. According to an official statement released on October 29, 2025, neither Usman nor Saidu holds leadership positions within the ADC party itself.
The clarification followed reports suggesting the duo had assumed party leadership roles. Instead, the ADC confirmed that Senator Usman and Hon. Saidu serve as Chairman and Co-Chairman, respectively, of a broader coalition of opposition parties, civic groups, and stakeholders united against what they call “the hardship and maladministration of the rudderless APC government” in Kaduna.
The party emphasized that the coalition leadership is distinct and separate from the ADC’s elected leadership structure, which remains under the stewardship of Elder Patrick Ambut as the state chairman. The coalition’s purpose is to foster unity and coordinate opposition activities ahead of the 2027 elections, while the ADC maintains its institutional autonomy.
Further, the ADC dismissed false reports that Senator Usman had defected from her role as Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party to the ADC. This coalition effort exemplifies ongoing opposition collaboration aimed at challenging the APC’s dominance in Kaduna State.
