The Kano State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking by recovering Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets valued at over N82.7 million. The operation culminated in the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect, Usman Umar, following credible intelligence received by police operatives.
The seizure, conducted on September 20, 2025, involved the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets containing 60,300 pieces worth approximately N60.3 million, alongside 299 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules containing 44,850 pieces valued at around N22.4 million. These illicit drugs were found at a residence in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, Kano.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the swift action and vigilance of the police officers involved, assuring the public that the Kano State Police Command remains committed to eradicating drug trafficking and abuse in the state. He urged residents to continue providing credible information to help sustain the fight against illegal drugs.
The suspect is currently cooperating with detectives as investigations continue to dismantle the larger drug syndicate responsible for distributing these controlled substances. The police reiterated their resolve to protect lives and maintain peace in the community by targeting criminal networks involved in drug peddling.
