Telecommunications giant MTN Nigeria has restored services in Kano, Adamawa, and Borno States following hours of disruption caused by scheduled network maintenance.
Subscribers in the three states had earlier complained of difficulties making calls, sending messages, and accessing the internet, sparking concerns of a possible network outage. However, MTN clarified in a statement on Sunday that the downtime was due to ongoing maintenance work aimed at improving the quality of its services.
“We sincerely apologise to our esteemed customers in Kano, Adamawa, and Borno who experienced service interruptions during the maintenance process. Our engineers have now successfully completed the work, and services have been fully restored,” the company said.
The telecom operator assured customers of continued efforts to expand coverage and strengthen connectivity across the country, especially in underserved areas. It also appealed for patience during future maintenance exercises, promising that such interventions are necessary to enhance user experience.
The restoration comes as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) continues to urge telecom providers to invest in infrastructure upgrades to meet the increasing demand for data and voice services nationwide.
