The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed the opposition parties’ planned coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring it “dead on arrival.” During a radio program in Jos, Yilwatda emphasized that the ruling party is not threatened by any individual or alliance, including speculation about former President Goodluck Jonathan’s possible candidacy.
“APC is not scared of any name in Nigeria,” said Yilwatda confidently. He highlighted that the APC’s machinery is well-prepared and ready to win elections emphatically. He questioned the viability of the opposition coalition by asking, “The issue is not about individuals but about the party. Which vehicle will carry Jonathan? Is it ADC? Is it PDP?”
Yilwatda mocked the opposition’s fragmentation, describing them as scattered small groups without any cohesive national presence. He further criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State for poor governance and corruption investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Highlighting the APC’s recent successes, the chairman pointed to landslide victories in numerous by-elections and the increasing support for the party across Nigeria. He suggested that the opposition’s noisy campaigns are ineffective and only serve to strengthen the APC’s resolve.
Yilwatda assured Nigerians and party members that the APC remains the dominant political force in the country and is fully committed to steering Nigeria towards greater development and stability ahead of the 2027 elections.
