The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has formally dismissed a widely circulated list purported to be the party’s consensus candidates for the 2026 governorship and 2027 general elections. The list, which appeared on various WhatsApp groups, named individuals allegedly chosen for key positions including governorship, deputy governorship, and senatorial seats.

Reacting swiftly, APC’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, described the consensus list as fabricated and insisted it was a creation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intent on sowing discord within the APC ahead of the upcoming elections. Olabisi asserted that the party did not compile or endorse the list, labeling it as an attempt at misinformation designed to create disunity among APC aspirants.

The circulated list named Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, as the consensus governorship candidate and Remi Omowaiye, Executive Director at the Federal Housing Authority, as the deputy governorship candidate. Other names featured were Minister Adegboyega Oyetola and former APC National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore for senatorial positions.

In response, PDP’s Osun State chapter expressed that the purported consensus list exposed confusion within the APC ranks. According to PDP chairman Sunday Bisi, the list is indicative of desperation among APC members and “recycled plans” of seasoned politicians. Bisi emphasized that the electorate’s decision would be guided by governance performance and public trust rather than propaganda.

He highlighted the PDP’s achievements under Governor Ademola Adeleke, particularly citing improvements in salary payments, pension disbursement, and restored dignity in public service through initiatives like IMOLE. Bisi urged Osun residents to judge parties based on demonstrated governance rather than unverified claims.

The controversy underscores political tensions as both major parties gear up for the critical 2026 and 2027 elections in Osun, with each side seeking to consolidate support and counter opposition narratives.
