The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for circulating a “malicious” video aimed at discrediting Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State. The PDP described the video as a desperate political tactic designed to tarnish the reputation of a leader known for his efforts to bring peace and stability to Plateau amid persistent security challenges.

The party’s spokesperson accused the APC stakeholders of engaging in dirty politics by using deceptive media content to undermine Governor Mutfwang’s achievements and friendly governance style. The PDP highlighted Mutfwang’s commitment to addressing the recurring attacks and improving the development of the state despite the ongoing crises.

PDP leaders insist that instead of resorting to smear campaigns, political opponents should focus on constructive dialogue and cooperative efforts to tackle the security threats that have devastated communities across Plateau. The video attack was seen as an example of the ruling party’s intolerance toward opposition and failure to offer credible solutions.

Plateau Governor Mutfwang, who has been on the frontline dealing with the implications of armed banditry and communal violence, recently issued heartfelt apologies to affected communities, emphasizing government’s dedication to ending the violence and securing lives and property.

The PDP’s rebuke comes at a crucial political period, as the 2027 elections draw near and political tensions in Plateau and across Nigeria intensify.
