The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has threatened to take legal action against former Deputy Governor Ude Oko Chukwu after he publicly released the names of individuals he helped secure permanent, pensionable, and political appointments in the state and federal agencies. The list, published in early September 2025, contains about 350 names, including some PDP members who claim their names were published without consent.

Ude Oko Chukwu, who defected from PDP to the Labour Party (LP) last month, explained that the publication was intended to debunk claims from certain politicians accusing him of failing to deliver as a legislator and deputy governor. Alongside the job beneficiaries, he also highlighted empowerment programs, infrastructure projects, and gifts given to traditional rulers through his efforts.

However, the Abia PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, condemned the publication, describing it as an attempt to claim personal ownership of appointments, which undermines party integrity and due process. He demanded an immediate apology to those listed without their permission and warned that the party is prepared to take legal and disciplinary measures if necessary.

Amah emphasized that jobs in civil service, judiciary, tertiary institutions, and state agencies are lawful rights of qualified citizens and not political gifts, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.

The situation underscores the ongoing political tensions in Abia State following recent defections and power struggles.
