Renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away at the age of 80. The Ukpai family confirmed that he died on October 6, 2025. Known as one of Nigeria’s most influential Pentecostal leaders, Rev. Ukpai devoted over six decades to evangelism, spiritual teaching, and humanitarian work.

Born on January 7, 1945, in Ohafia, Abia State, Uma Ukpai transformed countless lives through his fiery sermons and life-changing crusades across Nigeria and beyond. He was also a mentor, founder of several educational and medical institutions, and a pillar in Nigerian Christianity.

While the family mourns his passing, they describe his death as a “glorious transition” to eternal rest following a faithful service to God. The Christian community, including prominent figures like Redeemed Christian Church of God’s General Overseer Enoch Adeboye, have paid tribute to his lasting impact on the faith and nation.
