The re-elected National President of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kolade Alabi, will spend three years in office.

This followed the unanimous vote by members of the association to review the term from two to three years.

Alabi was re-elected for a second tenure during the General Assembly of ALGON at Sheu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

Also elected were: Shehu Jega Marshal – Deputy National President; Aminu Muazu Maifata – National Treasurer; Kia Ebidoughebofan – National Financial Secretary; Solomon Izukwukwu Onah – National Publicity Secretary; Ezekiel Rabuet – National Organising Secretary; National Welfare – Rufai Jindu and Taufiq Isa – National Legal Adviser.

The assembly adopted a five-year strategic plan geared towards making ALGON more vibrant and respected association.

Alabi thanked the assembly for his unanimous re-election.

He said he was humbled by their supports and renewed mandate.

Director-General of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) Ashisana Okauru, hailed ALGON for a successful outing.

He congratulated the elected officers.

“This is the right way to go. We wish you all the best. We’ll continue to partner with you to move our country forward,” he said.
