Key figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed strong confidence that the party will wrest control of Oyo State from the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 elections. Senator Sharafadeen Alli, lawmakers, and other APC stakeholders have declared that the party is united, focused, and strategically positioned to reclaim the southwestern state.

Senator Alli, representing Oyo South, has delivered recent electoral successes for the APC in local contests, fueling optimism about larger victories to come. He highlighted that the PDP’s grip on Oyo has been weakening, compounded by perceived governance shortcomings under Governor Seyi Makinde. According to Alli, many PDP members are defecting to APC, and this momentum is set to increase as the general election approaches.

The APC leadership is also intensifying efforts to reconcile internal divisions and strengthen its grassroots structures to present a formidable challenge in 2027. Party strategists emphasize that the by-election losses earlier in Ibadan North are wake-up calls urging focused preparations rather than defeatism. Prominent APC leaders including former speakers and regional party bosses have reiterated commitment to ensuring APC’s resurgence in Oyo.

Governor Makinde and the PDP, on the other hand, remain influential but face growing pressure amidst constituents’ growing demand for tangible governance improvements. The 2027 polls are shaping up as a key battleground for political dominance in Oyo, with APC leaders increasingly vocal about their prospects of victory.

As the political atmosphere heats up, all eyes will be on Oyo State where strategic positioning and voter sentiment will determine whether the APC can indeed oust the PDP and reclaim power in 2027.
