Tanzanian protesters have looted the luxury fashion store owned by popular singer Juma Jux amid widespread demonstrations following the country’s disputed general elections. The unrest, which erupted over allegations of electoral irregularities and the exclusion of prominent opposition candidates, spread across Dar es Salaam and other cities.

Contrary to initial reports claiming the store was burnt down, Juma Jux’s wife, Priscilla Ojo, clarified that the store was looted but not set on fire. She addressed the rumors on Snapchat, stressing the distinction amid growing concerns on social media.

The protests have drawn sharp criticism of the Tanzanian government for alleged repression and crackdowns on opposition figures, activists, and journalists. The looting incident sparked heated debates on social media, with Nigerians and Tanzanians expressing mixed reactions—some condemning the act, while others relate it to the ongoing political tension.

The singer’s Instagram page became a hotspot where Tanzanians accused him of supporting the administration, while Nigerians stood in defense of the star. Priscilla’s clarifications helped calm some of the online turmoil surrounding the incident.
