A 17-year-old Nigerian student, Nafisah Abdullahi, from Yobe State, has been awarded N200,000 by the Federal Government in recognition of her exceptional performance at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals. She triumphed over more than 20,000 participants from 69 countries to emerge as the world’s best in English language skills.
The award was presented during a ceremony in Abuja by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who praised Nafisah for exemplifying the brilliance of Nigerian youth. Alongside Dr. Alausa was the Minister of State for Education—Professor Suiwaba Ahmad—who also commended her for her resilience, intellectual ability, and dedication.
Nafisah, who attended Nigerian Tulip International College, has become a symbol of academic excellence, earning admiration nationwide for her achievement on the global stage. The government reiterated its commitment to investing in education and nurturing high-potential students who uplift Nigeria’s international reputation.
The announcement has reignited discussions on the importance of providing long-term support to academic talents. Many are calling on the government to extend beyond monetary rewards by introducing mentorship programs, scholarships, or structured career support to ensure that young achievers like Nafisah can thrive sustainably.
