In a recent series of nationwide military operations spanning 48 hours, Nigerian troops successfully apprehended 11 suspected logistics suppliers for terrorist groups and rescued nine kidnapped victims from various locations across the country. These actions underscore the Nigerian Army’s commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring security.

According to a credible source at the Army Headquarters, the operations resulted in the seizure of 114 livestock, approximately N1.1 million in cash, a pump-action gun, cartridges, petroleum products, and other contraband items. Eight of the logistics suppliers linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP were arrested in Gubio, Borno State, with troops uncovering concealed jerrycans of petrol, cash, and mobile phones hidden in shops and a POS center.

In Katsina State, soldiers thwarted a terrorist attack in Gidan Kwairo village of Malumfashi Local Government Area and rescued five kidnapped victims as the terrorists fled. Meanwhile, in Ogun State, a dismissed soldier allegedly extorting locals while dressed in military camouflage was apprehended and handed over to the police for prosecution.

Further operations included the arrest of a notorious oil wellhead vandal in Bayelsa and a suspected militant in Edo State, with weapons and camps being destroyed. Troops also intercepted suspects on a motorcycle in Taraba State carrying one million naira suspected to be linked to criminal activity; one suspect escaped, and investigations are ongoing.

In Plateau State, the military recovered 105 cattle and nine rams grazing unattended and relocated them to secure locations while working with community leaders to identify the owners. In Kaduna, forces foiled a kidnapping attempt at Ungwan Bera village in Sanga Local Government Area, rescuing four victims, including two children, who sustained injuries but are receiving medical care.

These coordinated efforts demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s resolve to deny terrorists freedom of operation, protect citizens, and support the government’s food security agenda by securing rural farming areas. The army continues to partner with other security agencies and community groups to achieve lasting peace across the country.
