Security forces operating in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have successfully neutralized a significant kidnap logistics supplier linked to armed criminal elements in the region. This milestone was announced in a statement by Nayo Jude Babatunde-Uyi, Senior Special Assistant on Information, Communications & Strategy to the Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, on September 14, 2025.

The operation took place in Ofere Bunu as part of a coordinated security campaign spearheaded by the Executive Chairman in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, local vigilante groups, community stakeholders, and other security agencies. This campaign aims to dismantle and weaken the criminal networks that have long disrupted peace within the Kabba/Bunu axis.

The suspect neutralized was reportedly responsible for supplying crucial logistics, including food, communication devices, arms, and ammunition, to bandit groups operating in the area. The action against this key supplier is seen as a decisive blow that will significantly disrupt the capacity of the bandits to sustain their operations.

The statement from the Local Government emphasized that this success sends a strong message to those aiding criminals that their activities will no longer be tolerated. Furthermore, it reaffirmed the commitment of the local government and security agencies to intensify joint operations and maintain visible, proactive security across all communities under Kabba/Bunu jurisdiction.

Residents have been urged to continue cooperating with security forces by reporting any suspicious activities to ensure a safer environment for all.

This operation complements wider efforts by Nigerian troops stationed in the region following intelligence led raids that have rescued 17 kidnapped victims and neutralized several violent extremists in recent days, aiming to restore peace and security throughout Kogi State.
