The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for House of Representatives in the last general elections, Hon. Chuka Okafor has returned to the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State.

Okafor, who was a member of the ruling party in the state before decamping to the SDP, practically collapsed his former party structure for the APGA to rejoin the party with prominent politicians in Nnewi South Local Government Area and beyond as well as other supporters.

Addressing party faithful on Monday in Amichi, Okafor said he left APGA after certain individuals hijacked the party and ran it at variance with the dream and aspirations of the founding fathers.

He recalled his efforts in actualizing APGA’s dream of winning the 2013 governorship election in the State, expressing his preparedness to repeat the feat occasioned by his believe that the party remained the only one that can protect Igbo interest in Nigeria.

He said, “I went to SDP to contest the House of Representatives election not for personal aggrandizement but to get justice for our constituency that has been marginalized for a long period of time.

“Aguata and Ihiala Local Government Areas have twenty political wards just like Nnewi South, but the surprising thing is that the duo are independent while Nnewi South is attached to Nnewi North, which has been taking almost everything.”

Receiving the returnee to the party, APGA chairman, Nnewi South Local Government Area, Osuchukwu Azubuike said APGA would surprise the opposition political parties in the guber polls in view of its deep root in the State.

He said, “APGA as not just a political party but a family and a movement that would win the November governorship election with a landslide victory. APGA is the only political party with collective and individual aspirations.

On his part, Transition Committee chairman of the area, Hon Chiloka Okoye described the returning politician as big catch for APGA.

“Okafor has always been a strong member of APGA who went to SDP to try his popularity. He is returning to APGA at a right time when all hands are needed on the deck for the party’s victory in next governorship election,” he added.
