Mohammed Bello, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State and former senatorial aspirant for Yobe Zone A, has officially resigned his membership from the ruling party. In a letter addressed to the party’s Ward Chairman in Gwange, Damaturu, Bello described his resignation as a release from political bondage.
Bello cited dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and internal dynamics as reasons for his decision. He expressed frustration over what he described as the party’s failure to fulfill commitments towards internal democracy and fair treatment of members. His resignation is viewed as a significant blow to APC in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections, appearing amid wider defections and political realignments in the state.
The former aspirant’s departure has sparked discussions on the implications for APC’s strength in Yobe, with political observers weighing how this might affect party cohesion and election strategies moving forward.
