The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has ordered a thorough investigation into a physical altercation involving popular social media influencers Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof. The incident occurred during boarding of United Nigeria Airlines flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport, Delta State, on November 17, 2025, before the flight to Lagos.

A video of the fight went viral online, showing VDM and Mr Jollof physically exchanging blows inside the aircraft cabin while passengers tried to intervene. The flight crew acted promptly according to international aviation safety protocols, immediately deboarding both men and handing them over to airport security for further investigation.

The NCAA has tasked its officials to review the actions of the flight crew, aviation security personnel, and other staff involved in managing the situation. NCAA Director of Public Affairs Michael Achimugu noted that although the airline has yet to submit its incident report, an investigation is underway to establish how security responded, the duration of the incident, and subsequent actions taken.

Achimugu emphasized that while the NCAA itself does not prosecute offenders, it will advise the airline to blacklist both passengers and forward the case to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police for possible prosecution. The authority condemned the behavior as a serious safety risk for passengers and crew.

Following the fight, the Delta State Governor’s media aide expressed disappointment in both individuals for compromising safety and decorum in such a public setting.
