Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, the House of Representatives member for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, has formally announced his exit from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) following his expulsion by the party’s Kano State chapter.

In a statement personally signed and released on September 5, 2025, Kofa described the expulsion as a “rude shock” but said he accepts the decision “in good faith” while urging the party to allow him to depart “in peace” without further acrimony.

Kofa, who was expelled over alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of dues, defended his recent statements made during TV interviews, insisting that nothing he said amounted to anti-party behavior. He expressed disappointment over being expelled without any formal invitation to defend himself, deeming the process a violation of due process and fair hearing.

“I would have loved to stay in the NNPP and continue my service despite some differences, but since the party has taken this decision, I accept it without grudges,” Kofa stated.

Addressing the allegations of unpaid dues, he expressed willingness to clear any outstanding payments immediately if invoiced and appealed to the party to resolve the matter amicably without resorting to court cases.

Kofa, a former Director-General of Tinubu support groups before joining NNPP in 2022, thanked the party for the support he enjoyed and called for civility as both sides part ways. He hinted at carefully weighing his options before choosing his next political home.

“I am appealing to the NNPP to maintain decorum and refrain from personal attacks as we part ways. Relationships will continue irrespective of party affiliation,” he said.
